Maite Cerdán, a graduate in Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid, is a self-taught photographer who currently resides on the island of Mallorca. Her artistic introduction began in 2018 with the help of the tutoring of photographer Julio Álvarez Yagüe, a point of reference who taught her the technique and artistic foundations of photographic practice, as well as questioning the principles of the medium itself.
Among her most recurrent interests are the depiction of nature in its purest state, its relationship with human beings and, especially, of women as empowered subjects who have developed bonds of strength and ancestral wisdom with nature. In her latest work Mariposa, this empowerment is expressed from an intimate and personal perspective.
